Kelly is a 200hr Registered Yoga Teacher and a 95hr Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher. She has an extensive background working with children. She started her career as a child life specialist in the hospital setting. She then attained her elementary teacher certification and has taught children ranging in age from preschool through fifth grade. She is also a mother of four children. Over the years the environment in which she worked with children changed, however, one thing remained constant, her belief that the most important things she could bring a child were self-confidence, strength, and the power to create their own inner peace. This has led her to become a children’s yoga instructor. Kelly believes the benefits of yoga can last a child a lifetime. She strives to educate and engage children and their families in these practices.
Outside of teaching kid’s yoga classes locally, Kelly also works as a Trainer for KAY. She leads 2-day workshops teaching those who are interested in getting certified to teach kid’s yoga, and also is trained to lead Edu-KAY workshops. Edu-KAY is a 6-hour professional development workshop designed to give teachers, school counselors and administrators the tools to implement yoga, meditation and mindfulness into their classrooms

These sessions can be held virtually or at your location with a small group of friends and family. This is a great option for homeschooling groups, Pods, and getting friends together in a safe socially distant way.

Yoga in Schools
Children today live in a very fast-paced world. Between pressures from school, extra curricular activities, their peers, parents, and society, the hustle and bustle of everyday life can quickly wear down on a child’s inner peace and joy. All of these pressures and expectations can lead to a whole lot of stress, and while most kids are not familiar with the concept of stress, they can still experience what it feels like without giving it a label or name.
For educators, the challenge is to figure out how to instruct children in yoga, meditation and mindfulness in bits and pieces throughout the school day, without interfering with their current curriculum. Kidding Around Yoga offers a 6-hour professional development workshop called EduKAY designed specifically for this purpose. Teachers, counselors and administrators come away from this workshop with tons of resources that they can immediately implement into their classrooms/schools.
