Once upon a time…while watching the Oprah show – one of her guests was Rodney Yee & he was sharing his yoga knowledge. That episode changed my life…it was the beginning of my yoga practice – I was 21 years young. The asanas (postures) were a game-changer for my (bad) back – a rare condition that I was born with. As years went on & my love for yoga grew…I embarked on my 1st YTT (yoga teacher training) in Victoria, BC in 2010 – this was a 3 month, 6 days a week with a total of 250 hour commitment. Doing this deep dive took my love for my yoga practice to another level. I was experiencing firsthand the benefits for my physical body…to this amazing shift, that it was now having on my mind & soul. I needed to keep exploring this magic…and it was a must to share all of my learnings with others too.
I am a believer that we are students of life – so, I set sail to the motherland & completed my 2nd YTT in India…another 250 hours & that was truly life changing! Being a big kid myself, I was looking for a specialized program to come back to the young ones level & Kidding Around Yoga crossed my desk – providing everything I needed & more..so I became a KAY teacher in 2016. I have done a few other courses with KAY & will continue to do more. I also studied with Yoga Outreach in Vancouver, BC – taking a course on yoga for ptsd & trauma. I believe yoga is for everybody & every body – it is an everyday practice to be your best self.
The ying to my yang…I am a corporate Sales Representative in the CPG industry. A lot of pressure comes with this & my yoga practice helps me in this light too. I have been very blessed with a few employers that have encouraged me to share yoga with my colleagues over the years. I have always had a zest for life & a passion to help people – yoga has given me the ability to do this even more. To teach is to learn twice…I am forever grateful to you all, who help me to learn & to grow. Namaste 🙂
