My name is Emily and I live in Victor, Idaho with my husband and dog. I am originally from Mississippi, where I received a BA in elementary education. After university, I moved out west where I fell in love with the inspiring and majestic Teton mountain range. My professional career started at a residential special education school for students who suffered from severe emotional and physical trauma. Although I left to teach preschool in 2011, I love to volunteer during the winter to ski with the students at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. I enjoy teaching the little ones to read the most and found my dream job as a kindergarten teacher in 2015.
I have been hooked on yoga since my first class over 15 years ago. In my pursuit of living a life with yoga, I received my 200 hour certification through the wonderful Teton Yoga Shala in Wilson, Wyoming. I love sharing yoga with those I care about. I currently teach free classes for teachers in my school district. I believe in and have experienced the life changing benefits of yoga. It was only a matter of time that I became interested in implementing yoga in my own classroom and schools. While researching programs for a 95-hour children’s yoga certification, I found Kidding Around Yoga. I loves how the program teaches the science of yoga including asana, pranayama (breathing), meditation, and mindfulness while being totally playful and developmentally appropriate. I am an advocate for yoga in schools and teaching teachers how to use in their classrooms.
While I am not teaching, I love to take advantage of the wonderful opportunities living next to a national park has to offer. I enjoy paddle boarding, mountain biking, gardening, alpine skiing, cross country skiing, hiking, traveling, and being with family and friends.
