Happy Day small Yogis! My name is Rachel and I am a 200-RYT and KAY certified yoga instructor. While enrolled in my 200-hour teacher training I started to share what I was learning with my two children and quickly learned how I talk with adults about yoga is different than how you talk to a 9 and 6-year-old. I believe everybody can benefit from yoga and KAY offers, games, songs, stories, actives and more to help introduce your child to the benefits of yoga. I look forward to sharing my passion and knowledge of yoga with your children as we discover movement, songs, and stillness.

Disciplining our children or even simply redirecting undesired behaviors has been a hot button topic that spans generations and cultures. Our schools are no exception. Mindfulness and yoga are being adopted in schools as contemporary ways to meet the social and emotional needs of students, so why should we not start with those same practices at home? Yoga has been shown to improve self control and help to reduce stress. What if we began instilling the principles of yoga at home through behavior redirection and carefully crafted disciplinary methods? Yogi Jaggi Vasudev, known as Sadhguru, is a huge proponent of using yogic practices within the family to manage behavior as a kind of family culture.
Imagine your child being excited to do homework! The word “homework” can cause anxiety in children and adults. The thought of having to assist my elementary school children with today’s math homework causes me, as the parent, anxiety. Kitchen tables, living room desk spaces, and small home offices can all be a productive space for the adults in our homes to complete tasks, but are they the best places for our children to complete homework? Simply setting aside homework time in the evening is the first step in creating lifelong homework habits.
