Grab yourself a piece of KAY-C! Kidding Around Yoga in the Classroom has finally arrived. The educational system seems to be in a constant state of change. The curriculum is shifting, the teaching is rigorous, and the kids are wound-up tight. Teachers are in their chosen career because they love kids and believe in education but let’s face it, they generally aren’t supported, appreciated, or valued in ways they should be. Consciously teaching mindfulness, meditation, and movement will improve any classroom climate, which increases productive academic time. Research, testimonials, and even supreme courts are agreeing that yoga has a place in schools, and this is how we can start.
Kidding Around Yoga has methods that are aligned to Common Core Standards, character education topics as seen in Guidance Curriculums, and can count toward the mandated Structured Physical Activity total of 150 minutes per week. It provides enough flexibility (ha ha!) to create Yoga Mini Lessons that can serve as class meetings for guidance lessons/character education topics, bring Readers Theater activities to life during reading lessons, make math concepts more personal and concrete and bring word problems to life. It teaches meditation, focus, and concentration, which serves as a foundation for all other academics to rest upon.
This program is for all teachers… anyone who wants to introduce yoga in the classroom. Our training is based on the wildly popular Kidding Around Yoga style of kids yoga and fits seamlessly into your class outline. However, you do not need to be a certified KAY instructor to benefit from these techniques!
KAY-C is a 5-7 hour training that you can do in the comfort of your home.
- Songs, stories, activities, and games that can be used singularly or within a mini class or class meeting.
- How to select materials from reading, math, or other content areas that are yoga-adaptable.
- The Science of Yoga and how to present it to children.
- Meditation and breathing techniques to use with themselves and their classes.
- Structured mini-lessons with their students on a regular basis.
- KAY-Breaks at transitional times.
- Music Included!* We have our very best Kidding Around Yoga music geared for the classroom.
*As a KAY teacher who has taken either a live 2-day or OKAY training, you already have the music offered in this training. Here we have selected the best music for pre-school ages to help guide you with this particular age group.
HOW DOES KAY-C WORK?
There are four modules containing 32 Units covering all of our topics from games and music to breathing and meditation techniques. You will complete a unit in order to unlock the following units. Your progress and grade is tracked as you move through the training. You can return to any completed lesson at any time. The program will not lose your place. If you happen to leave the program during your training, fear not. KAY-C will always know exactly where you left off. And all links in the training will open up a new tab or window, so don’t be afraid to click. There will be a lot of photos and short videos of Haris, AKA Momma KAY the founder of Kidding Around Yoga, and other Kidding Around Yoga trainers teaching different components in the classroom. At the end you will be given your certificate to download, and you will be prepared to share KAY-C in your classroom.
KAY-C DOES NOT MAKE YOU A CERTIFIED YOGA TEACHER. If you would like to become a certified kids yoga instructor we offer two great options:
Either of those trainings WITH the addition of KAY-C will give you the tools to teach a full yoga class to all students.
KAY-C is only $75. And if you are a Kidding Around Yoga graduate, you get the discounted price of $54.
