She has found that even the smallest lessons learned in daily life can be applied to the big picture, and that everything happens for a reason. Mandy is endlessly grateful to Kidding Around Yoga for giving her the tools to share the amazing science of Yoga with children from all corners of the world.

Flights & Transportation

Arrivals:

We recommend that you purchase your flight to Costa Rica early to avoid paying higher prices as the dates get closer. Please book your flight into SJO (Juan Santamaria International Airport) if you wish to take advantage of our group shuttle. The shuttle will depart the SJO area (airport or hotels nearby) the morning of Saturday, July 24, 2021 at about 7:00 am. We recommend that you fly in on Friday, July 23 and spend that night at a hotel. We will recommend 2 options for hotels near the airport. The shuttle will pick you up directly from the hotel. The shuttle takes about 6 hours and you will arrive to Cabuya Lodge at about 2 pm on Saturday. The cost of the shuttle is $60 and we will put the shuttle on your bill at Cabuya Lodge.

If you are unable to get into the SJO airport before 7 am on July 24, you will miss your option to take our group shuttle. If you must fly in later in the morning on July 24, you can MAYBE get an afternoon shuttle (we cannot promise that this will be available), or you can fly to our local airport.

If you would rather not take the 6 hour shuttle, or you are unable to fly in on time to catch it, you also have the option to fly to our smaller, closer airport in Tambor (TMU). There is one airline that makes that trip: Costa Rica Green Airways Flights are about $100 each way, and a taxi from the Tambor airport to Cabuya Lodge is $50. Mandy will be happy to guide you to book the flights, and she can arrange the taxi pick up for you as well.

Return:

Check-out from Cabuya Lodge is on Sunday, August 1. We recommend that you use that day to get back to the airport and spend that night at an airport area hotel prior to flying home on the morning of Monday, August 2, 2021. If you must fly home on Aug. 1, you need to make sure your departure from SJO is later in the afternoon or evening. You will not be able to get back to the airport before 2:30 pm (meaning the earliest flight you could catch would be 4:30 pm), if you take the shuttle. If you book one of the regional flights from Tambor to SJO you can get there earlier in order to catch an earlier flight from SJO home. It’s very important to leave at least 2 hours between your arrival time into SJO with the flight from Tambor, and your departure from SJO on your flight home.

Mandy is available to help guide you when it comes time to make your flight bookings. Please email her at [email protected] with your proposed flights PRIOR to booking to make sure they make sense with the travel options.

Certification Requirements

Yoga Alliance Certification and Requirements

Yoga Alliance registration is not the same as “certification.” If you have completed our basic 2-day KAY training, you are fully certified to teach yoga to children in any capacity and are not required to complete further training or to join the Yoga Alliance.

How to register as a RCYT with the Yoga Alliance

There is no time frame in which you are to fulfill all of your 95 hour requirements with YA. You do not need to be a 200 hour certified teacher when you begin the process. However, you must be 200 hour certified if and when you register with the Yoga Alliance for your RYT and subsequently for your RCYT. Click here to learn more about the current guidelines from Yoga Alliance for teaching yoga to children which are outlined below.

  • Complete 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training
  • Complete 95 hour advanced Children’s Yoga Teacher Training
  • Submit 30 teaching hours in Kids Yoga that take place AFTER you get your 95 hour advanced Children’s Yoga Teacher Training certificate

Alternative Certification Paths

It is preferred that you complete one of our three basic certification options (a 2-day live training, Virtual Path, or Online Path) before attending the advanced training. However, you can attend the advanced training first if need be. Or, have you taken a basic Kids Yoga certification program other than KAY? You can still attend our advanced training and be eligible to receive your 95 hour certificate. Here’s how…

“I haven’t taken an initial Kids Yoga training yet.”

  1. Complete your registration form and submit your initial payment.
  2. Commit to either the Virtual Path, Online Path or to attend a 2-day live training by registering and paying (regular discounts apply).

OR

If you do not register for the 2-day training before the 95-hr program start date, you will need to pay a $150 fee to gain access to your online coursework. Details of how to make this payment will be sent to you after your registration is complete. This course will need to be completed in its entirety before attending the advanced 95 hour training you register for.

*Note that you are not eligible to receive your advanced 95 hour certificate until you have completed the live 2-day training.

“I have completed my initial Kids Yoga training with another school (RCYS).”

  1. Submit your initial Kids Yoga training certificate to us for approval on your registration form.
  2. Make your initial payment for the training.
  3. Pay a $150 fee to gain access to the online coursework that will need to be completed in its entirety before attending the advanced 95 hour training you register for. Details of how to make this payment will be sent to you after your registration is complete.
